In this chart, we compare the sales of nfts of 4 NBA teams with other teams in the NBA. For a better comparison, a few days before and after the conference have also been shown.

Starting with Boston Celtics, had the highest sale volume on May 17 (the first day of the conference finals). The sale volume was $12k which was 1.5 times bigger than the other 3 teams.

While total sale volume has fluctuations on different days of conference, Golden state warriors and Dallas Mavericks were able to get a large share of the total daily purchase and have the main sales.

On May 22, we had around $150k in total sale volume and it was the best selling day for all the teams. $29k were sold for Golden state warriors, 23k Miami heat, 19k Dallas and 16k Boston Celtics.

After that the sale volume decreased until May 27.

The number of transactions made during the days of the conference finals has a trend almost similar to the volume of transactions for the 4 main NBA teams, with the difference that on May 20, the volume of sales increased compared to the day before and after, but the number of transactions on May 20 was low.

On May 22, the number of sales transactions in all 4 teams was almost equal

(exactly equal for Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics).

Golden state warriors has the most transactions on most days

It is expected that the number of buyers has a positive correlation with the number of transactions and sales volume. This is almost true.

On May 22 we had the highest number of buyers and the number of buyers in all 4 teams was close with a slight inclination toward Golden state warriors.

On 19 and 20 May, although we had more sale volume compared to 18 or 28 May, number of buyers was low means that few buyers purchased big amounts.

Overview and method

Top Shot is a virtual trading card platform based on blockchain. This platform runs on the FLOW blockchain. NBA creates video attached NFTs with the help of Dapper Laps about rare moments.

People can buy these rare moment packs as NBA NFTs.

In this dashboard, I will analyses NBA Topshot sale volume during final championship series of basketball. First I check ratio of Top shot transactions to total flow transactions.

Then I go thorough Top shot sale volume during conference finals which held between May 17 to 29.

Then, I compare sale volume, transaction count and number of NFT buyers in 4 main basketball team’s NFTs. (Warriors, Celtics, Mavericks, and Heat)

Finally, I checked the ratio of sale volume of each team to the whole sale volume of other teams.

Sale volume percentage of different teams in days of conference finals is shown in the right chart.

Sale volume ratio of Golden state warrior to other teams sale amount has increasing trend. In early days of conference, Golden warriors had 24% of total sales and while this number dropped in late days on conference, it rose again after NBA days. After conference finals, Golden warriors had the highest sale percentage compared to other teams.

Boston celtics had the second highest sale volume ratio in May 26, while 23% of total teams sales were belong to celtics.

While Golden warriors had the highest sale ration in early days of conference, Dallas Mavericks had the highest ration in last days with a sudden jump of sale volume on May 26 when it had 44% of total sales amount.

Miami heat had the first place of sale volume May 24 with 24% of total sales. After NBA conference finals, its sale records decreased a lot.

The ratio of topshot transactions to total flow transactions is shown in the chart on the left. The days of the conference finals are highlighted in red for easier comparison.

In the early days of the conference, the number of Topshot transactions was more and on May 19, 13.5% of Flow transactions were from Topshot collection. With the passage of time, the ratio of transactions decreased and on the last day of the conference, which was May 29, Top Shot Collection's share of all transactions was 1.8%.

After conference, we didn’t have high tx for topshot except some days in June when other moment packs were dropped and caused growth in topshot transactions.

The sales volume of Top Shot during the 13 days of the conference, 13 days before, and 13 days after is shown in the chart on the right. During the conference finals, we sold about 5.5M from the Topshot collection, which was more than the previous week of the conference. The average selling price during the conference was $18.

Conclusion

• Sale transactions were the highest on May 19 in topshot compared to total tx in Flow.
• The highest sake volume, sale transactions and buyers were in May 22 when all 4 teams had almost similar records.
• While each team has different best selling days, Golden state warriors had highest sale records and transactions in most days.
• Dallas Maverick had highest sale volume on May 25.
• After conference finals, Golden state warriors had the highest ratio in sale volume compared to other teams and this amount seems to peaked in June 17.
• Sale volume ratio is also peaked for Boston Celtics in June 23.
• Other teams sale volume seemed to decreased after conference.
