Hot Contracts on Osmosis

Since the beginning of May, answer the following questions: What are the top ten most popular contracts on Osmosis? What is the cumulative total of contracts launched on Osmosis, and have there been any spikes since the Terra crash or other noteworthy events?

    Methodology

First I will find the top 10 contracts (pool ids) based on the number of swap transactions since the beginning of May. Then I’ll show the number of swaps for each on daily basis, in the first chart, figure 1.

In figure 2, I’ll show the “Cumulative number of swap transactions” for those top 10 pools. This chart will show the trend of usage and popularity over time.

Then, it’s time to find out how many “Newpools are created per day. For this part, I consider the first time a pool is used as the creation date, and if this pool is used in the following days, it is no longer counted as a new pool, only on the first day of use. I will show both individual and cumulative charts over time for this part.

Number of swap transactions per day

    • The bars are showing the number of swap txs (usage) of the top 10 pools since the beginning of May.

    • Light green bars related to the LUNA ecosystem assets. (Pool IDs: #560, #561, and #565). As we see we have the most number of swaps on May 11th and 12th.

    • These dates remind us the collapse of LUNA :upside_down_face:. On these dates, the usage number of these 3 pools set a record.

    • On May 12th, there was over 32.6k USTC/OSMO pool usage, over 47,35k LUNC/OSMO pool usage, and over 25.79k LUNC/ATOM pool usage.

Cumulative number of swap transactions over time

    • As we can see, the #1 ATOM/OSMO pool is at the top of the pools with over 712k usage since the beginning of May. This pool has been higher than the others on almost all days (except the dates between May 1 and May 17).
    • Between May 1 and 17, the #560 UST/OSMO pool was the most used. As we can see, after May 10th, the use of the #561 LUNC/OSMO pool increased drastically, and this was due to users swapping their Lunas to Osmo through this pool. Also, #565 LUNC/ATOM pool usage goes higher after that date, May 10th.
    • Almost since the end of May, the use of these 3 pools has decreased to such an extent that their cumulative growth chart has almost no growth and has moved forward steadily.
    • After May 10th, the use of #678 USDC/OSMO increased with the same slope as ATOM/OSMO pool, and this shows ==users migrate from UST to USDC on the Osmo chain.==
    • After May 24th, another new pool was created and that was #722 EVMOS/OSMO. Although it has been created since the end of May, it has grown rapidly in the amount of use by users and has become the 3rd most popular pool (I did not consider pools 560 and 561 because they are not used much anymore) among these 10 pools.

    New contracts (pools)

    • The two right charts show the number of “new pools” created over time per day individually (left chart) and cumulatively (right chart).
    • If we do not consider the first day because there were no pools before that and the first pools were also calculated among the new pools, we can say that the highest number of new pools that were created in one day was on December 4, 2021, with 69 new pools have been created in history.
