NEAR - 18. Social Dashboard

    What is Near social?

Near.social is a social media platform built on the NEAR blockchain. The NEAR blockchain is a decentralized, high-performance blockchain designed for building decentralized applications (dApps) and is intended to be user-friendly and accessible to developers of all skill levels.

Near.social aims to offer a decentralized social media experience where users own their data and have control over their online presence. The platform enables users to create profiles, follow and interact with other users, create and join communities, and share content such as text, images, and videos.

One of the unique features of Near.social is its use of NEAR tokens for tipping and rewarding content creators. NEAR tokens are the native currency of the NEAR blockchain and can be used to pay for transactions and interact with dApps built on the network.

    Methodology

For better readability of this dashboard, I have divided my analysis into several sections.

    1. Profile Activity: In this dashboard, we will look at profile creations and edits over time. We will show weekly profile creation and edits in addition to cumulative ones. To do this, we will use data from the near.social.fact_profile_changes table and aggregate data by week. We will then use line charts to display the trends over time. We will also show the total number of profile edits in the first section.
    2. Post Activity: Next, we will analyze post creations and responses. We will use data from the near.social.fact_decoded_actions table (filter data by NODE = ‘post’ ) and aggregate data by week. We will then use bar charts to display the weekly trends in post creations and responses. We will also show the total number of posts created and responses received since the beginning.
    3. Follow Activity: We will then look at follows and unfollows over time. We will use data from the near.social.fact_decoded_actions table (filter data node_data LIKE '%follow%' and action_type = 'follow') and aggregate them by week. We will then use a bar chart to display the trends over time. We will also show the total number of follows and unfollows since the beginning.
    4. Widget Usage: Finally, we will analyze widget creation, usage, and reusability. We will use data from the near.social.fact_decoded_actions table and aggregate them by week. We will then use stacked bar charts to display the daily trends in widget creation, usage, and reusability. We will also show the total number of widgets created, used, and reused since the beginning.
    5. Conclusion: In the conclusion section, we will summarize the key findings from the dashboard and provide recommendations for improving user engagement and adoption on NEAR.social.

    Insights

    • As can be seen in the chart of the weekly changes, in the last week of February, the number of user profile changes has grown significantly, exceeding 5k changes (of course, this does not mean that 5k users have changed their profiles, but It means that 5k sections of profiles have changed.)
    • In the charts below, we can see that the image, name, and linktree have had the most changes over time. Also, most of these parts are correlated (although their number is not equal and there is a big difference).
    • Finally, we can see that 15.46k sections have changed since the beginning.

    Insights

    • Until the beginning of 2023, the trend of the number of posts has been steady and with a slight increase, but after the beginning of the new year, the posts of users on the platform have increased, reaching over 3k posts in the last week of February. It turns out that this figure is astonishing.

    • The total number of posts has been 6.9k since the beginning.

    • Also, when we look at the graph of the average posts on a weekly basis, we see that it has generally had an upward trend and the upward slope of this trend has increased a lot after 2023 (it has grown more steeply).

    • But the average post per user has been between 1 and 4 posts and it has recorded a peak in February.

    Insights

    • In the first chart, the number of follows/unfollows is displayed weekly over time. As you can see, the trend of these measures has been stable until 2023, and in the last week of December 2022, we have seen a decrease, but after that, we have seen a normal and steady state and even a slightly increasing trend. In the last week of February 2023, we have seen a record in the number of follows, which was more than 4k follows. In no week before that, the number of follows (per week) had not exceeded 1k.
    • These follows were done by about 1.5k users.
    • In the third chart, we can see that auroraecosystemnews.near has the highest number of current followers with more than 700 followers. The next ranks with the most followers belong to root.near and mob.near with 253 and 180 followers respectively.

    Conclusion

Based on the insights provided, it is clear that the platform is experiencing significant growth in user engagement, with an increase in profile changes, posts created, follows, and widget usage. The image, name, and linktree have been the most commonly changed parts of profiles.
