Bridger Destinations
Q5. Where do people go when they bridge to Polygon from Ethereum? What are the 10 most popular first destinations for Polygon addresses that have just bridged from Ethereum?
Metrics and Observations (Charts #1 #2 & #3)
looking at Chart #1 there was an unusual spike in number of distinct users bridging Ethereum from June 21 to June 28, one of the notable events during this period was the announcement of Polygon integration with Coinbase Pro.
Chart #2 shows that Hop Protocol is the most popular first destination for users, and in the top 10 first destinations Crypto Unicorns and AAVEGOTCHI are the only non solely DeFi protocols that users move funds to have their first transaction on.
we can see that QuickSwap is the most popular DEX for these users to have their first trade on.
Chart 3# shows the multiple event types this demographic of users initiate on the Polygon blockchain, usually users move funds around and as a result about one third of the their first transaction is Transfer, and as users need to give approval for Protocols to use their funds, this event type comes in 2nd.
over the last 60 days June 13 had the most bridgers doing their first transaction on Polygon, June 22th, 27th and July 18th come next with no significant difference.
Methodology & Related Sources
to attain the bridger wallets i used Flipside Crypto’s
ethereum.core.fact_event_logs and included the users of Hop Protocol and Polygon Bridge who sent ethereum to bridge contracts.
then i used Flipside’s polygon.core.fact_event_logs, to filter the same wallets in Polygon chain and then used
core.dim_labels joined with core.fact_transactions tables of Polygon to investigate their first destination after bridging.
