18. Algorand Unique Users(Addresses) Growth

Question 18: Let's look at the growth of Chart how many unique wallets are added each day(Tip: Use the Account Table) Do we see an increase in wallets created during the governance commitment periods compared to non governance commitment times? Governance Commitment Period 2: September 20th 2021 - October 14th 2021 Governance Commitment Period 2: Dec 24th 2021 - January 1st 2022

The graphs above shows all new wallets created per day since the 1st of August 2021. Governance Period 1 and Period 2 are colored different to better see and understand how they relate to the overall 'new addresses per day' picture. To make the effects of the two periods more visible, I have added the average and the median (of new wallets over all time) to the charts.

The two graphics above show the Governance Period 1 and Period 2 in detail. It is clearly visible that in Period 1 only a slight influence (on new wallet creations through Governance voting) is visible. Looking at Period 2 it looks, different. In the second part of Period 2 we can see a strong increase on new wallets.

What is Algorand Governance?

Since October 1st 2021, the Algorand ecosystem moved to a decentralized Governance model. The Community Governance enables all Algo holders to participate in the decision making process on the growth and development of the Algorand ecosystem.

Algorand Governance is splitted into two periods so far, Period 1 and Period 2.

What is Algorand?

Algorand is a decentralized blockchain technology network, with its native currency being known as ALGO.

The idea behind Algorand was to combine features of mainstream, well-established cryptocurrencies–such as decentralization, transactions without a central authority, easy-to-divide tokens–but with added speed and less computing power necessary to run the system.

Algorand is also called the Green Blockchain, because its blockchain is fully carbon neutral!

In the following analysis I want to verify, if the governance periods had any influence on the growing of the Algorand Ecosystem.

So far, this is the number of all 'not closed' wallets on the Algorand Blockchain. Nearly 10 Million, that is pretty impressive.

Conclusion

So the Question has to be answered with yes because of this behavior. The first Governance Period had a bit of an influence on the growth of the ecosystem, but the second period had a strong influence!
