The Unstakeeeeers

How frequently do users on Osmosis unstake their Osmosis? What do they do with the OSMO once unstaked? Do they re-delegate, enter a LP position, or swap into another token? Do they re-delegate to certain validators more frequently than others? Why might this be so?

    Introduction

In this dashboard we will be using Osmosis database to analyze behavior of users who unstake their OSMO.

We will look at daily number of Unstakes and unique unstakers over time, Then we will see unstaked OSMO volume.

Next we find out what users do with the OSMO once unstaked.

Finally we will see what validators are most popular to re-deleagte.

    Methodology

For this bounty I have used osmosis.core.fact_staking table to find users who unstaked their OSMO by filtering

action = 'undelegate' and currency = 'uosmo'.

The following chart shows number of daily unstake transactions and daily unique unstakers over time.

We can see these two number were increasing from July 2021 to March 2022.

The following chart shows volume of daily unstake transactions over time.

We can see a huge spike in volume on May 3, 2022

    by about 6.62M OSMO.

The following chart shows number of users who Re-delegate OSMO, Open an LP position with OSMO and Swap OSMO after unstake their OSMO.

Swappers have largest number, Then LPers and last is Re-delegators.

The following chart shows number of users who only Re-delegate OSMO or only Open an LP position with OSMO or only Swap OSMO after unstake their OSMO.

We can see Swappers have largest number with a big difference with LPers and

    Re-delegators.

The following chart shows More frequent validators based on the number of Re-delegate transactions.

    We can see osmo….wr9t

is the most popular validator to Re-delegate OSMO by 3703

    Re-delegates.

Also the following chart shows distribution of most frequent validators based on the number of

    Re-delegate transactions.

osmo….wr9t is the most popular with 21.3%.

We can see this address belongs to https://frens.army staking platform.

We can see it has low commission (5%) and high staked volume (2,968,689.27166100 OSMO).

This popularity might be because of https://frens.army

auto-compound tool that will increase Staking rewards. For example for Osmosis from 80% APR to 120% APY.
