Purpose: The purpose of this analysis is to compare the block performance of popular layer 1 blockchains (Ethereum, Solana and Flow) vs. layer 2 Ethereum chains (Polygon, Arbitrum, and Optimism).

Key Findings:

• Solana is King = fastest avg. block time @ < 1s, most transactions/block @ 2.1k, and daily avg. transactions/block consistently increasing over time.
• Ethereum has by far the slowest block time, even post-merge, @12-14s/block.

Methods:

• Used thefact_blocks tables to determine block performance for each respective L1/L2s.
• Unfortunately, the block_timestamp fields across all tables only go down to the sec, not millisecond, which is why minimum block times are 0.
• All data in the dashboard is per the state_date & end_date parameters at the top of the dashboard.
