Tornado Cash Addresses
Tornado Cash is in the news due to the sanctions imposed by the US government and the freezing of $75K of USDC from Circle. The addresses tied to the service have been publicly posted online. (Hint: we also have them in our crosschain address labels table as well).

Using those addresses:
- Which of the Tornado Cash addresses received the most # of transactions in the last month, quarter, year
- Which addresses received the most transaction volume (worth) in the last month, quarter, year
- Over all the addresses, group the transactions into buckets by value.
- How many tx in the 0.01-0.1 ETH range went to Tornado?
- How many in the 0.1-1ETH range?
- How many in the 1-10ETH range?
- How many in the 10-100 ETH range?
- How many above 100 ETH? (split further if better)
In this post we are going to check on the Tornado Cash addresses that recently have been publicly posted online in recent days. we are going to do some check on the transactions for these addresses as well and then we will do some analysis on them.
To do this, first we have to find out what is Tornado Cash.
What is Tornado Cash ?
Tornado Cash is a non-custodial decentralized privacy solution built on Ethereum. This increases the confidentiality of transactions by breaking the link in the chain between the recipient and recipient addresses. Tornado Cash uses a smart contract that accepts ETH and ERC-20 deposits. These deposits can be withdrawn from any network address. Whenever an asset is withdrawn to a new address, it is not possible to link the withdrawal to the deposit, which ensures asset confidentiality.
Down here there is a table that is showing the addresses of this Tornado Cash that have been posted online. also you can see the transactions for each address and amount of ETH of them in total.
Down here there is a chart that is showing the Top 5 addresses that received the most of ETH in three periods (Last Month, Last Quarter, Last Year).
as you can see in the below chart, the address “0xa160cdab225685da1d56aa342ad8841c3b53f291” have received the most of transactions volume in all three periods. it received more than 1.4M ETH in the last year as you can see.
in next we will check on the addresses that received the most number of transactions.
By looking at the chart in below you can see the Top 5 addresses that most of transactions happened in them.
you can see that the address “0x722122df12d4e14e13ac3b6895a86e84145b6967” in the Year period received the highest number of transactions in compare to the other addresses in that period with more than 34k total transactions.
And for the end, down here you can see the total number of transactions grouped by their values in some range of transaction’s amount.
as you can see in the below donut chart, most than 36% of transactions for these addresses are in the range of between 0.1 ETH to 1 ETH ( more than 83k total transactions) and after than transactions in range of 0.01 ETH and 0.1 ETH are in the second place with almost 17% of transactions (almost 40k total transactions).
So that was it for this post. we did checked on the Tornado Cash addresses and we did some checking on the transactions for these addresses and then we did some analysis on them as well.
