Bridge Volume (Optimism Bridge)
Introduction
Optimism (OP) is a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum that can accommodate any Ethereum applications. It use optimistic rollup technology to bundle batches of transactions in order to save on gas prices. OP is its native governance token, which is primarily used to control the system.
One of the most effective strategies to maximize the value of your crypto assets is to connect them to a Layer 2 (L2) network. Lower transaction costs, greater throughput, a better user experience, and occasionally access to dapps on Optimism are all benefits of bridging ETH to Optimism.
Methodology
-
All ETH to Optimism through Optimism Native Bridge are sent to this contract address 0x99c9fc46f92e8a1c0dec1b1747d010903e884be1.
-
All ETH to Optimism through Hop Protocol are sent to this contract address 0xb8901acb165ed027e32754e0ffe830802919727f
-
All ETH to Optimism through Across Exchange are sent to this contract address 0x4D9079Bb4165aeb4084c526a32695dCfd2F77381
As can be seen from the chart, the average bridge amount via native bridge is higher than via Hop Protocol. The biggest average amount via native bridge is 33.6 ETH on Jun 13, 2022 and the second biggest average amount via native bridge is 33.41 ETH on May 23, 2022. On Hop Protocol, the biggest average amount is 8.36 ETH on Jun 13, 2022 and the second biggest average amount is 6.14 ETH on Jun 16, 2022.
So, users on the native bridge are more likely crypto whales while users on the Hop Protocol bridge are just small fishes.
As can be seen from the chart, the daily bridge amount via native bridge is higher than via Hop Protocol. The biggest daily amount via native bridge is 24.4M on Jun 1, 2022 and the second biggest daily amount via native bridge is 12.09M on May 31, 2022. On Hop Protocol, the biggest daily amount is 17M on Jun 1, 2022 and the second biggest daily amount is 6.9M on May 31, 2022.
Optimism airdrop happened on these days so that the reason why the amount via bridges on these days were much higher than other days.
