Transaction Failure

In this dashboard, I will walk through answers for the following questions:

    1. Establish my own chart for failed transaction rate on Terra
    2. Compare my analysis and alphaDefi analysis to find down whether alphaDefi analysis is correct
    3. List what is causing the failure transaction rate you assess, and provide recommendations to mitigate it.

The charts above displays that the failed transactions have the same trend like the total number of transactions. However, between March 2021 and September 2021, the failed transaction rate didn't increase much while the number of total transactions on Terra continued to increase. From October 2021, the failed transaction rate started to climb and touched the second highest point at 2.66% in December 2021 and staying at the highest point at 3.68% in March 2022 when 2/3 time of the month has passed.

The amount of failed transaction also rises from ~18000 in October 2020 to ~428000 in March 2022, a 23x increase.

Taking a look at charts and analysis from Alpha DeFi in Twitter, we can see that both analysis are correct.

We can see that Wasm issues were the cause for 80.1% of failed transaction and out of gas took the second place in the list with 7.72%. The third place belongs to insufficient funds with 7.26%

To reduce failed transaction rate, Terra should improve the quality of wasm as well as the smart contract. Moreover, the whole network needs to maintain a stable gas fee. Last but not least, the UI that users usually uses to interact with Terra blockchain should be improved to give better recommendations for gas fees and existing funds in users' wallet.
