AVAX: Block & Transaction Performance

This Dashboards covers some of the most important metrics in determining the performance of a blockchain network. * The average TPS in AVAX by hour. * What's the average number of transactions per block? * What's the maximum & minimum number of transactions we've seen in a block and the minimum? * Average time between blocks over time. * Transactional gas price over time.

    Avalanche Network Throughput:

Transactions per second (TPS) is the key metrics to decide the transactional performance of a blockchain - below we filter out the failed transactions as well to get more accurate data points.

    • Average Transaction count since 20 June 2022 is around 10k.
    • Highest TPS achieved in the last 8 days is 4.4

Success rate of transactions is the number of transactions completed successfully divided by total transactions submitted. 90% is a healthy success ratio.

Below we see average block metrics for Avalanche network: (Since 20 June 2022)

    • Avg, Max & Minimum transactions in a block

Average time between blocks: This is an important metric to calculate Time to Finality (TTF). It is similar to latency calculation in networks. Below we see the daily average time between 2 blocks since 20 June. Clearly, Avalanche takes about 2 seconds to confirm the next subsequent block. In my opinion this is a better metric to gauge the speed than TPS.

Average Gas price over time - How much gas fee do users spend on Avalanche Network?

    Conclusion:

    • Avax might not be the fastest blockchain in terms of TPS or TTF (Time to Finality), but it works great in terms of transactional success ratio and has better average gas prices
