Polygon Block Performance

What is the average time between blocks on Polygon? In this dashboard we will identify a few key block stats for Polygon with our on-chain analytics. We will then compare these stats with L1's such as Solana, or other L2 such as Arbitrum.

Polygon Block Performance - Key Metrics:

    • Average time between blocks
    • Maximum time between blocks
    • Minimum time between blocks
    • Average transactions in a block

    Arbitrum Block Performance:

    • Average time between blocks
    • Maximum time between blocks
    • Minimum time between blocks

    Solana Block Performance:

    • Average time between blocks
    • Maximum time between blocks
    • Minimum time between blocks

    Conclusions:

    • Polygon’s average time between blocks is always above 2 seconds in the last 30 days.
    • Minimum time between blocks on Polygon blockchain in the last 30 days is 2.1 seconds.
    • Maximum time between blocks on Polygon blockchain in the last 30 days is 2.49 seconds.
    • Average number of transactions in a block on Polygon is 73.1
    • Comparing Polygon’s block stats with other chains, we find that the average time between blocks for Polygon is higher than both Solana and Arbitrum. This means that Polygon takes longer time to produce blocks as compared to Solana or Arbitrum.
    • In our comparison, the average count of transactions in a block is highest on Solana with more than 2k transactions, followed by Polygon with 73 and then Arbitrum with a little over 1.

The data from the tables is for the last 30 days, the values over a larger period of time might be slightly different.
