    Polygon: Delhi Hard-Fork Evaluation Report

    Polygon completed a hard fork last month in hopes of reducing gas fees, Reorganization(reorg) depths. Let’s dive into the network’s health and performance leading up to and since the hard fork. This dashboard aims to answer the following questions: Has this software upgrade led to lower gas fees as hoped? Have these changes affected any meaningful user metrics, such as volume, activity, monthly active users, or others?

    Introduction

    In order to take more immediate steps to improve Polygon PoS performance and predictability, Proposal was passed in the Polygon forum, and this hard-fork was completed successfully in block number 38189056

    Date of Delhi Hard-Fork: 17-JAN-2022

    The goal of this dashboard is to evaluate this #HardFork presenting some key data insights backing our thesis.

    Methodology:

    We have differentiated the metrics in two different periods:

    • Pre-Fork: Nov 2022 to 17th Jan 2023

    • Post-Fork: 17th Jan 2023 till date

    We will evaluate if the Delhi Hard-Fork has addressed the issues it went out to resolve.

    The Questions to be answered here are:

    1. Has the upgrade been able to reduce the severity of the Gas spikes?
    2. Has it reduced the reorgs depths?
    3. Has it affected any other User or Performance Metrics?
