Web3 User Landscape in 2023 🏞️

In the midst of a challenging bear market, the Web3 landscape has seen some users falter while others have persevered. As the decentralized world evolves in 2023, it becomes imperative for stakeholders to understand the key factors driving adoption, engagement, and user distribution. This dashboard, featuring a comprehensive range of metrics, offers an overview into the state of Web3 users comparing them across the networks. Still a Work In Progress, charts are being added as they are ready

    These charts help us identify

    • Which blockchain network has most number of users in 2023.
    • Weekly composition of users from different blockchains in 2023.
    • Cumulative active wallets so far in 2023.

Note: Bitcoin network is not included since data isn't available on Flipside yet

    These charts help us identify:

    • Which blockchain networks are attracting new wallets in 2023.
    • Weekly new wallets composition across blockchain networks in 2023.
    • Cumulative new wallets in 2023.

πŸ’‘Pro-tip: Use the parameter function on top of this page: Enter 'day' to see daily charts, 'month' to see monthly charts. The default is weekly charts.

Scroll through the legend of the charts and click on chains that you're not interested. This can be used to filter the noise and focus on the blockchain of your preference.

The above user distribution is a creative way of representing users according to their date of joining and the narrative that year.

    • Blockchain Pioneers: Any wallet that was first in use on or before 2015.
    • Bear Market Survivors: Any wallet that was first active in 2016-2019 during the bear market and survived to see the dawn of a bull run.
    • DeFi Entrants: Any wallet that was first active in 2020 when DeFi protocols shot to fame and created a new narrative for cryptocurrencies.
    • NFT Adventurers: Any wallet that was first seen in 2021 with the bull run in full flow following the emergence of NFTs.
    • 1 Year in: Any wallet that was first seen in 2022 and completes an year in 2023.
    • Newcomers: The newcomers are wallets that were freshly created in 2023.

*Note that these tags given to the user categories are just for representation of their year of joining. It doesn't mean that the user was involved in their respective narrative plays.

This chart helps us see if the old users are still actively involved in 2023.

    Introduction

This is a comprehensive dashboard that uses data from all the blockchains (Mainnet) available on Flipside to see how many wallets are active in Web3.

Still a Work In Progress, charts are being added as they are ready

    Key Takeaways:

    • More than 163Million unique wallets have been active in 2023. (Excluding Bitcoin)
    • Binance Smart Chain has the highest number of active Wallets (and New Wallets) in 2023 (69.7 Million)
    • Active Wallets includes both bots and users. So it is difficult to say how many real users these mean. Also one user can hold multiple wallets across different blockchains so this data might not necessarily mean that those many users are active. It can be used for comparing and spotting trends.
