    Introduction

    What is Osmosis?

Osmosis is Layer-1, Proof-of-Stake (PoS) blockchain built using the Cosmos SDK. Osmosis is a DEX protocol, which means it uses smart contracts to determine the price of digital assets, to produce liquidity via a peer-to-peer (P2P) methodology, and to exact trades between users. This approach to an exchange platform is known as an AMM — a DEX protocol that prices crypto assets in liquidity pools.

    What is Pool ?

A mining pool is a joint group of cryptocurrency miners who combine their computational resources over a network to strengthen the probability of finding a block or otherwise successfully mining for cryptocurrency.

    Methodology

In This dashboard I’m going to shows the activity of different LP deposit types in all the pools on Osmosis. On Osmosis users can deposit Liqudity with both assets in the pool or just one. We are looking to see how Osmosis users prefer to provide liquidity. The data for this dashboard comes from the osmosis.core tables of the Flipside database.

    • osmosis.core.fact_liquidity_provider_actions table has been used for filtering the liquidity pools datas.
    • osmosis.core.dim_prices has used for determining the current price levels of tokens in pools
    • osmosis.core.dim_labels has used for turning IBC addresses to token symbols.

We are going to analyze :

    1. Pools & Users Overall Stats ?
    2. Osmosis Pools Events by Event Type ?
    3. Osmosis Pool Volume by Event Type ?
    4. Share of Pools from HEADFIRST OR CAREFUL?

    • According to the first metric 29.3K unique users are the users who dive in head first into the ecosystem
    • Also we can realize that total number of 416K unique users are the users who wade in carefully which is far more than users who joined headfirst
    • So we can see that users who wade in carefully are more than 14 times of users who headfirst. this shows that majority of users are joining Osmosis pools in much more care.
    • From Metrics above we can realize that average actions per user of each group don’t have much difference; On the other hand by comparing the volume of actions we can see a huge difference between groups which show us average volume of a headfirst user 10K more than carful user
    • By analyzing total transactions we can realize that user who dive in headfirst has 2.4M transaction count; it’s 1M more than users who dive in carefully
    • According to the above charts, the total number and especially the volume of Both Assets joins is way more than Singleside ones.

Osmosis LP Events by Event Type

    • According to the Metrics 60% of users were joined the pool headfirst; also from daily chart we can realize that single side LP started from December
    • Also the user interactions who joined pools start an increasing trend since December and the highest LP Pool has been experienced on February
    • After February Interaction has been dropped significantly which is clearly visible from chart 25K to 3K LP Daily Deposit
    • Also charts show us OSMO was the most LP Deposited Token which has 1.9M Actions by Headfirst and 710K Actions by Careful users and 210K User LP Deposited
    • In the second place we can see ATOM , STARS , JUNO with 220K User LP Deposited which is far from first place (OSMO)

Osmosis Pool Volume by Event Type

    • In terms of volume, The users that deposit both assets deposit much larger volumes than 1 sided depositors.
    • As we can see from the first charts since Jul 2021 all of users are headfirst Dive and from second week of December an increasing trend has been started and the amount of careful users increasing significantly till February
    • After That the amount of interaction dropped significantly till today and weekly volume started an descending trend from 125M to 3M; One of the main reason is Bear Market which could be damage the users from both sides
    • Also from Share of weekly volume we can realize that the share of users who joined the pools in single side has been increased from 15% to 53% which means low interaction for the ecosystem

    Conclusion

    • The total number and especially volume of deposits when users were diving in headfirst into the Osmosis pools is way more than Single Sided deposits. The difference between volume of actions is way more than number of actions and users.
    • OSMO is by far the most popular asset for both type of deposits and ATOM is on the second rank. the share of ATOM on Single-Sided deposits is less than its both assets deposits.
    • Single Sided deposits have started since December 2021 and is newer than Both Asset types, So, maybe that’s the main reason between the high difference of these 2 types. After beginning of the Single Sided deposits, we have seen increasing share of this type of action as time goes on to the extent that the number of Single Sided deposits has overtaken Both Asset actions !
    • The single-sided LP deposit type has become very popular on osmosis, but when users are depositing a large volume into pools they LP with both assets. This is most likely due to the fact that on large LP events single-sided Deposits could have detrimental slippage. The newer pools launched on osmosis have a higher proportion of single-sided liquid to 2 sided LP events. The Axelar assets the majority have a higher proportion of single-sided Osmo LP activity compared to other assets.
