Daily Active User
What is the question?🚨
What does a Daily Active User look like on Osmosis? First, plot out how many DAUs there are on Osmosis. For this exercise, consider a DAU would be any wallet transacting on Osmosis a majority of days every week.
Once you have the DAUs, what does their activity look like? Do they LP more or swap more? How often do they transfer tokens into Osmosis? Where are these transfers coming from?

Method⚡
For solving above questions, i went thorugh OSMOSIS and analyzed its active users and what are they doing on multiple angles. ==I considered active users the users who transacted more than 4 days of a week.== I extracted the data from ==Osmosis.core== database provided by Flipsidecrypto and used multiple tables for different sections of my analysis. At first i analyzed active users and what are they doing on OSMOSIS in overall then explored different parts of OSMOSIS such as LPs, Swaps and Transfers by Active users.
I used these tables to put the data together and analyze them:
==“osmosis.core.fact_transactions”== for identifying active users,
==“osmosis.core.fact_liquidity_provider_actions”== for LP data,
==“osmosis.core.fact_swaps”== for swap data and
==“osmosis.core.fact_transfers”== for Transfers.
I didnt used any specific time range and the data analyzed over time. analysis made on ==2022-10-19==
Introductionđźš©
What is OSMOSIS?
Osmosis is a DEX protocol, which means it uses smart contracts to determine the price of digital assets, to produce liquidity via a peer-to-peer (P2P) methodology, and to exact trades between users. This approach to an exchange platform is known as an AMM — a DEX protocol that prices crypto assets in liquidity pools.

What is OSMO(Token)?
The Osmosis token (OSMO) is used to vote, stake, and provide liquidity throughout its pools. Superfluid staking, a process novel to the Osmosis protocol, allows users to stake assets to secure the network while simultaneously providing assets in a liquidity pool.
More Info
In the first bar charts, i showed weekly users per day and consider active users as users who did activity on OSMOSIS at least 4 days a week and more. As we see, active users are doing all the actions almost the same but there is TX that users did it more than others. Most of the weekly transactions were TXs and and number of transactions were peaking at the middle of the week (Tue-Wed-Thu).
There was almost the same number of users on everyday and the numbers are pretty close to each other. ==“osmo15s259sj85kfq6rav4yjw9ql5cy2qqsl0umej88”== wallet address was the most active user on Osmosis over time and recorded over 21M transactions by itself.
In these charts i showed Weekly users by their actions such as : LP,Stake and Swap.
According to the charts in left, Number of users started to increase after mid December 2021 and were bullish until Early March 2022, it recorded an all-time high on Feb 28th-March 7th week and sadly dropped badly after that. Number of transactions also peaked on May 2th-May 9th week and most of it were swap. As we observe in these pie charts that are showing the user and transaction distribution by thier type, Over 15M of Osmosis transactions (over 44%) were swaps and over 1.5M of users were swappers.
(33.7% of users)
Number of LP transactions by active users started to increase after Christmas and it was bullish for 3 months straight. Then it dropped again and went back to its first place around mid June. ==“osmo19l9wsymdh3mp7munzrlk8rs03ttnu2uaujyktu”== is the most popular LPer on OSMOSIS over time with over 18.5K LP transactions.
In the right bar chart, we see top pools by number of transactions on OSMOSIS and the most popular one is the first pool that launched on OSMOSIS: ATOM/OSMO (Pool_ID= 1) with over 1.3M LP transactions.
In this section i analyzed swap stats on OSMOSIS over time. in the bar chart above we see daily number of swaps by active users or swappers. Number of swaps on OSMOSIS reached to an all-time high on May 12th.
==“osmo1zl0pzaz07pmemhcy7zjujpu6cje2qms6t4fkld”== wallet address was the most active swapper and recorded over 238K number of swaps on OSMOSIS over time.
Last but not least, we see the most swapped tokens on OSMOSIS, ATOM and OSMO number of swaps were so close to each other and obviously they are the most popular tokens on OSMOSIS, their pool is the most popular one too as i mentioned earlier.
In this section, i analyzed some metrics for Transfer In action on OSMOSIS over time. Accordin to the daily chart, number of transfers to OSMOSIS had so many fluctuations specially after April.
==“osmo1rl7lksuzayz5j0u0p35ezrw95czp3gyt73umxu”== wallet address is the biggest receiver on OSMOSIS with over 100K received tokens and accounting almost 50% of top 5 receivers.
Then we have top 5 tokens that sent to OSMOSIS so many times, as we see OSMO token has sent to OSMOSIS so much more than others in top 5 with over 700K times.
In this section, i analyzed the Transfer Out stats. The daily transfer outs are so close to the transfer ins stats.
Again ==“osmo1rl7lksuzayz5j0u0p35ezrw95czp3gyt73umxu”== is the biggest transporter in this part and sent the most transfers out of OSMOSIS over time as well as transfer in transactions.
Atom is the most transferred token that sent out from OSMOSIS, it seems that users swap their assets to ATOM and then send it to multiple places like CEXs, Wallets and etc.. . My thought on this opinion is it is because of the low fee on ATOM transactions.
Conclusionđź’ˇ
- Everyday of a week has almost the same number of users and there isnt that much difference between various days (Over 550K and under 600K active users)
- There are almost 113K DAU on OSMOSIS that transacted almost 89M transactions over time
- Active Users mostly doing swaps on OSMOSIS
- ATOM/OSMO is the first pool that launched on OSMOSIS and it is the most popular one too
- ATOM and OSMO are the most swapped tokens on OSMOSIS
- “osmo1rl7lksuzayz5j0u0p35ezrw95czp3gyt73umxu” wallet address is the transfer hero of OSMOSIS with receiving over 100K transfers and sending over 90K
- OSMO is the most sent token to OSMOSIS and ATOM is the most sent token from OSMOSIS to somewhere else
