Pooled RUNE Validator Distribution

Q117. What do the bond distribution look like for pooled validator participants (%-wise and abs number of RUNE)? Evenly split, large variance, etc.?

    What is the problem?

Who are validators and what are they doing?

what is bond and its actions?

How many node operators and Bond providers out there?

What we will cover in this dashboard?

    Method

For solving the questions above i used ==Thorchain== tables from Flipside Data.

I used ==“flipside_prod_db.thorchain.bond_events“== and ==“flipside_prod_db.thorchain.bond_actions”== tables from Thorchain database.

All the data that i analyzed and you are going to see are over time and i didnt used any specific time range

    Introduction

    What is Thorchain?

THORChain is a decentralized cross-chain liquidity protocol that allows users to swap assets between blockchain networks. One of the most significant innovations to come out of the decentralized finance (DeFi) space is the automated market maker (AMM) model.

    More Info

THORChain is a Proof of Bond network instead. THORNodes commit a bond in order to be churned in. However, this bond isn't just used to identify a node (give them a voting slot), it is used to underwrite the assets in the pools.

    Findings👀

    • Maximum Rune provided by pooled validators is 2.7M
    • Minimum Rune provided by pooled validators is 10K
    • Average Rune provided by pooled validators is 672K
    • Total Rune provided by validators is 21.5M
    • March 2022 had the highest Bond amount and in that month, Old Fashioned was more than Pooled Bondings
    • After March 2022 Bond amount got a downward trend and dropped slowly over time
    • In past 3 months Pooled Validators were so much more than Old Fashioned
    • June 2021 was a great month for Old Fashioned and it experienced its number of actions peak
    • In 2022 both number of actions didnt change that much
    • Bond Providers were mostly more than Nodes except March and April

    Findings👀

    • March and April 2022 had the highest Bond volume
    • After April 2022, Bond volume dropped badly
    • August, September and October 2021 were not good months for RUNE
    • Most validators provided above 800K RUNE
    • As we see in the pie chart, 68% of validators provided 800K RUNE and more!

    Conclusion

    • Total number of ==83== Nodes are currently active on THORChain
    • ==56.4M== RUNE has bonded on THORChain
    • ==21.5M== RUNE has provided by pooled participants
    • Maximum RUNE provided on THORChain is ==2.7M==
    • ==March and April 2022== were good months for THORChain
    • Most of validators providing above 800K RUNE
