The Osmosis token (OSMO) is used to vote, stake, and provide liquidity throughout its pools. Superfluid staking, a process novel to the Osmosis protocol, allows users to stake assets to secure the network while simultaneously providing assets in a liquidity pool.

Method⚡

For solving above questions i got help from ==Osmosis.core== schema provided by Flipsidecrypto and used ==“osmosis.core.fact_daily_balances”== new table that launched recently on Flipside DataBase to extract the needed data.

In some places i used ==“osmosis.core.dim_labels”== too.

I didnt used any specific time range and this dashboard made on ==2022-10-25==

Findings👀

In the charts above im showing the total OSMO holders over time on 3 daily/weekly/monthly timeframes. Then in the last line chart i showed daily average wallet balances on Osmosis and compared it to OSMO holders Growth.

According to the bar charts, more users are getting familiar with Osmosis day by day and the daily wallets on osmosis had an upward trend since July 2021.

On December 14th 2021, daily OSMO holders experienced a huge spike and almost got doubled and since that day, number of OSMO holders started to increase faster.

By the time passes, altough number of OSMO holders are increasing day by day, but it seems like the average wallet balance of OSMO in their wallets is decreasing, it means that they removing OSMO from their wallets and replacing it with some other tokens.

The wallet that has the most OSMO token, has a total of 219M OSMO by itself. In overall, there are over 400K OSMO holders since its launch and they are getting more and more day by day. After August 2021, Number of average wallet balances of OSMO holders started to decrease and by far it dropped from 3100 to 900 (Almost 70%).

In these line charts, i showed 2 different types of OSMO holders and their balance such as liquid and stake and on the left chart i calculated the liquid/stake ratio on a daily basis.

As we observe, there are more liquid holders than stake holders and both of them are bullish and moving with an upward trend over time. Average balance as i mentioned earlier in the last segment was bearish over time.

The daily Liquid/Stake ratio didnt changed that much over time, it dropped a bit after early May 2022 and recently after early October it started to rise and in last 2 weeks recovered all the lost ratio in this 5 months since May. On this day (Oct 25) the Liquid/Stake ratio is on its all-time high since last year. According to the pie charts, there are more liquid holders and total balances than staked holders over time.

==“osmo1pvxhtre74l37p6y2rs2e8xyek75z7xlc7g2trt”== wallet address is the biggest OSMO stake holder both at the start of 2022 and right now. It means that this address has kept its position and added almost 2M more OSMO to its wallet since the beginning of 2022 until now. As we see this address was the third one at the beginning of 2022 and right now it is the fourth one between top 100 liquid holders too.

==“osmo1fl48vsnmsdzcv85q5d2q4z5ajdha8yu3aq6l09”== is the biggest liquid holder both right now and back then at the start of 2022. It had 75.8M OSMO at the start of 2022 and by far it added almost 143M more OSMO to its current balance and remained in its position as the first one.

The pie charts under are showing the top 100 OSMO holders for both stake and liquid types and what they did to their token, do they hold them until this day or got rid of it?

We see that most of the current holders of both stake and liquid types are new holders and old holders got rid of their token and replaced it with new holders.

63.3% of top 100 OSMO holders are the new people and they replaced the old OSMO whales(wallets with the largest amount of OSMO)

In the area chart, we are seeing the OSMO holders by their held amount.

It seems After November 2021 users with 1-10 OSMO and also users with 10-100 OSMO increased dramatically and they are together or it is better that i say under 100 OSMO holders accounts over 90% of all OSMO holders (over 430K wallets)

In the left bar charts, i showed monthly number of wallets divided by the top 10 token that they are holding and in the right one i showed the monthly share of this metric.

It seems like as number of wallets increased, the number of wallets that holds OSMO decreased and users started to interact or hold other assets on Osmosis specially ATOM and USTC. Still on this day most of the wallets are holding OSMO but their number decreased massively since June 2021. As i said OSMO, ATOM and USTC are the top 3 assets that Osmosis users are holding at this time.

Conclusion💡

• Number of OSMO Holders is increasing day by day and increased over 330K since the beginning of the year
• Average OSMO wallet balances has decreased over time and users decided to hold other assets and replace their OSMO with them
• OSMO users growth and average wallet balances crossed on Feb 22th 2022 and after that the number of OSMO holders exceeded OSMO wallets average balances
• There are a total of 425K OSMO holders with an average balance of 977 OSMO per wallet
• Recently, Liquid/Stake ratio has grown dramatically
• In total, There are more OSMO liquid holders than stake holders
• ==“osmo1pvxhtre74l37p6y2rs2e8xyek75z7xlc7g2trt”== is the biggest OSMO stake holder right now with 9M and ==“osmo1fl48vsnmsdzcv85q5d2q4z5ajdha8yu3aq6l09”== is the biggest OSMO liquid holder right now with 218.7M
• At this moment, Mostly, New wallets replaced the old top 100 OSMO holders
• Over 90% of OSMO holders are holding under 100 OSMO
• OSMO, ATOM and USTC are the top tokens that users are holding at this moment on Osmosis Network
