What is Base?

[Base](https://base.org) is an Ethereum Layer 2 (L2) chain that offers a safe, low-cost, developer-friendly way to build on-chain. Base is an L2 built on OP Stack in collaboration with Optimism. Coinbase (one of the largest and most famous centralized cryptocurrency exchanges) incubating Base inside of itself, leveraging the last decade of its experience building crypto products, and plan to progressively decentralize the chain over time. Coinbase currently does not plan to issue a new network token.
